On Friday (May 28th), Jon, Mike, Matt and I summited Mt Willard. Again, it was a fun hike, though there were many bugs.
The next day, Jon, Mike, and I summited Washington!! My 6th summit:) Aaaannnd....we took the same route I did my first time up! Tux-Boott-Davis-Lawn-Tux up. Was great to redo that, it was murder in 2006, and not as bad this time around....training helped. I was dying of heat (why did I wear baselayer pants?) and so had to hide in the bushes to take them off. While the boys were standing guard, a duo of gents showed up. Thankfully, I don't think they saw me. And they were really nice....we kept meeting up with them on the trail, (we pass them, they'd pass us) and they shared their choco-covered blueberries. Seeing Split Rock again was a treat!
The summit was great as always (blueberry boys chose not to summit :( ) and we hung around the building for almost an hour. Took Lion Head down. That was a tough go, and my legs hurt for a few days afterward. But we made great time, around 9 hours total.
On my Birthday (June 2nd) Jon and I did Lafayette, Lincoln, and Little Haystack. I actually kept a bit of a log, so here it is:
We started at 8:10am...there were few cars in the lot. Around 60 degrees, nice out
Headed up via Bridal Path....not a difficult climb, there was a steep part with some wet rocks, but nothing we couldn't handle.
10:30am we got to Greenleaf Hut. Bought a pin and some lemonade :)
11am On ward!
12pm Summit of Lafayette. Lovely....many different types of bugs, beetle, and the dreaded black fly of death. Saw another group, they came from where we were headed.
Left Laf at 1241. Trail to Lincoln is fun, though a few "false summits." Silly little hills.
Get to Lincoln at 1pm. Bugs are getting worse.
Leave Lincoln around 135....what is that? A dirt path? Really? No, Really? Awww...Little Haystack...so cute!! Get to LH around 2:10, leave shortly afterward....bugs are EEEEEVVIIIL
Little Haystack,,,,cute?? Try brutal heading downward. Ouch! Had to watch footing. Saw Shining Rock, that was awesome. Saw a few people. Everyone was in good spirits, except the for the bugs
Finished at 6pm. Best birthday ever!! (except the bugs)
