UPDATE!!!

Ugh, I am terrible about updating this, sorry to my 3 readers :)

Been doing a good deal of hiking: In Jan Jon and I hiked the Blue Trail of Sleeping Giant....it was fairly easy, though we took the tower trail down and hit some snowy patches (saw some college girls who seem freaked out about having to walk in snow)

Hit Heublin Tower Trail a few times, was very snowy....got to use the spikes again, but very easy hike...nothing too exciting.

Finally hit Castle Craig on March 7th...very easy hike (I think working out at gym helped!)

On March 20th we hit Bear Mtn (the CT one....we have plans to hit the NY soon). Again, my keeping fit at the gym helped....it was easy going to the top, where it was very crowded (everyone out celebrating the Equinox?) We took the North side up, so we hit more rocks and snow and ice at the crawl before the summit. Again might I say how much I LOVE my spikes? Seriously, get these if you have any plans to hike in the snow.

On March 28th Jon, Mike, and I hit Beacon Mtns in NY. Now, we had hit these mountains last year around the same time, in the same weather conditions. Last year, it took us about 6 hours. This year....4.5 :) We FLEW up the first peak in a mere 30 minutes....I did feel it, but nothing bad.....again, training helped. Was a glorious hike. a bit cold when we stopped, but that is good for MWN. On the second peak, we were able to see the City!! Love that hike, definitely worth the 1.5 drive to get to. We hit a great restaurant afterward (Whistling Willy or something like that) where they have their own brews (joy) and a divine veggie burger. This was the FIRST REAL hike of 2010, gaining decent elevation, some challenge, good amount of time on the trail, and post hike celebration. Sadly, this leads to minor post-hike blues, when you have to go back to the "real" world and leave the trail and good times.

Yesterday (4/3..iPad release day) I did Devil's Hopyard with my buddy Dina. Hiked with her for a good 2 hours, though we had trouble trying to find the Vitsa via the Blue Trail (I'm thinking it is the same Vista as found on the Orange trail, but I was curious) We did find a prettier part of the Orange Trail, so that was very enjoyable. We started around 10:30am, and there was noone hiking, around 1, it got very crowded. Good to see people out enjoying the outdoors. After Dina left, I hiked around for another 2 hours, trying to explore the Blue Trail....but kept looping the Orange. This lead to a woman commenting, "Are you just FLYING around this trail?" Heehee...I explained I was training.

So those are my hiking updates, Hope ya enjoyed and I will try to update more often.
